Ben Bentsman
Video Editor & Animator
Hi! I’m Ben. I’m a Jersey City based video editor and animator who specializes in agency and documentary work. Growing up, I loved Werner Herzog's memorable stories and Chris Cunningham's visual-auditory aesthetic. I started at Emmy-award-winning Stick Figure Productions. Since then, I have worked with brilliant creatives at agencies like Accenture, Atlantic NY, BBDO, Havas, Hogarth, and TBWA. Many of the world’s top brands — including Amazon, Bacardi, Dunkin, the NFL, and Verizon — have repeatedly relied on my talents. My work for Snickers won the prestigious Comm Arts award.
SELECTED WORK
The New Prime Ball
I worked with the founders of Atlantic NY to craft a pitch video for Amazon and the NFL. They loved the idea and greenlit the campaign. We kicked it off by crafting this prank announcement. Our effort resulted in 17mm earned media impressions, memes created, discussion on sports shows, and a mention in the Washington Post:http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/09/15/amazon-prime-nfl/
BBDO AGENCY REEL
BBDO is one of the world’s best-known ad agencies. I was hired to edit their agency reel, in which I showed both the excellence and the variety of BBDO’s work.
An Occupation of Loss
floto+warner hired me to showcase artist Taryn Simon’s installation, “An Occupation of Loss”, which The NY Times called “groundbreaking” and “provocative”. I was given full creative freedom to shape the footage into a short piece. I added transitions that enhanced the abstract feel of the performers’ laments. I also designed the audio, using primarily the diegetic sounds of the performers and the space. In addition, I designed and animated the motion graphics. Since the installation was about grief rituals, I kept the graphical aesthetic stark and monochromatic — which is how grief sometimes feels.

PERSONAL WORK
The Artist Jess Willa Wheaton
This passion project was a one-man job. I had been intrigued by artist Jess Willa Wheaton, and she was gracious enough to allow me to film her at work in her studio in New York City. I directed, filmed, edited, and did the color. Shot on Blackmagic Raw and edited in DaVinci Resolve.
The Bike Hub
Directed, lit, filmed, edited, and did the color on this one. A short documentary on The Bike Hub, a remarkable little bicycle shop in Jersey City.

BRON STUDIOS REEL
BRON has made over 100 movies & TV shows that have been nominated for 27 Oscars and have grossed over $2.5 billion. I was hired to edit their company reel.
